Better late then never!

Hello everyone! This is my first post as Miss Star City (2 months after I was crowned, sorry for the delay!) I think reading this post you'll see why I haven't quite had the time to create a blog for my year as Miss Star City until now!

Rewind back to November, November 20th to be exact! This was the night of the Miss Lincoln/Miss Star City Scholarship Pageant.  It took place at Irving Middle School in Lincoln, Nebraska.  With eight outstanding Miss Contestants and 3 wonderful teens, a total of three women were crowned that night.  I had the honor of being crowned Miss Star City, my good friend Jessica States was crowned Miss Lincoln, and Meghan Thalken was crowned Miss Lincoln's Oustanding Teen!

The very next morning, I was back in Omaha boarding a plane to head to New York City to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!  I was joined by 114 members of my Stepper-Ette twirling team.  We had an amazing trip and you can ask any of us, it was a performance we will never forget! You can watch the performance here!

Another cool thing we did in New York was to teach a group of local kids some baton tricks! The kids had a blast and so did we!

Below is a photo of my mom and I in the Macy's Store!

Here are some photos from the actual performance in front of Macys! So exciting!

The same day as the parade, I flew back to Nebraska to make it back in time to perform at the Husker Football game the very next day! To add even more fun, the Stepper-Ettes had another performance on Saturday at the UFL Football Championship (the final event to take place at Rosenblatt Stadium!)  Everything seemed so hectic at the time, but looking back, that weekend was an absolute blast!

A week after all of that craziness, I had my first appearance as Miss Star City.  Jessica and I volunteered at the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women event.  This was a beautiful event that took place at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln, raising money and awareness for women's heart health.  We helped with the silent auction, and had a great time!  Everyone at the event was wearing red and it was a truly inspiring event, put on by none other than the amazing Alexis Geist!

The final two events I am going to talk about are two of the most fun and exciting football games of the season! Unfortunately the team didn't have as much fun as we (the marching band) did! On December 4th, the marching band loaded the charter flight to Texas to perform at the Big 12 Championship Game! The band had an awesome performance at halftime and someone got a sweet shot of me when I was on the big screen! :)

Two days after Christmas, the band took off for one last performance.  We headed to San Diego California to perform at the halftime of the Holiday Bowl.  In addition to the actual game, we also had three battle of the bands performances with the washington band, a parade, and three tailgates! They kept us plenty busy on the trip, but we still had time to visit see world and do some sight seeing! My favorite performance of the trip was at the San Diego Naval Base!

Now that my crazy fall semester is over, it is now time to start preparing for the Miss Nebraska Pageant in June, and also preparing for the National Baton Twirling Championships in July! I will write again soon, but I hope this has been a good catchup post!

ONE LAST THING! The Miss America Pageant is currently going on in Las Vegas and I know our Miss Nebraska Teresa Scanlan is doing an awesome job representing our state! Make sure to tune in on Saturday to watch the live broadcast of the pageant on ABC!
